This slave cabin believed to have been build around 1840 is now located approximately 6/10 mile south of Historic St. Mary's City, Maryland. Although it has been maintained and situated on a stone foundation, it is not open to the public. Those who want to see its exterior can walk around the back of the Broome Howard Inn, a bed and breakfast run by a private family.

Once situated near the State House in St. Mary's City, the main building of the Broome Howard Inn and this salve cabin were both moved to the present location. Formerly called the Broome Howard Plantation, a 19th century property, these two buildings along with many other agricultural buildings were considered to be "modern-day" intrusions into the 17th century Saint Marie's City.

A delightful 3.6 mile public access (free) walking trail passes along the shoreline behind this cabin. The trail starts in the parking lot at the Historic St. Mary's City Visitor's Center and follows south through the White Pine trees.
