Volunteer

UCAC is dependent on volunteers in order to pursue its mission. We do not have a membership fee and everyone is invited to help. Cash contributions are a vital part of our organization's foundation. Those of you who find this website useful, use our oral histories, and/or support the monument project and the work of UCAC are asked to make a tax-deductable donation.

Volunteers and support are needed in the following areas:

  1. Research archives and historical records to identify descendents of African-Americans who have made a significant contribution to St. Mary’s County
  2. Conduct and record oral history interviews.
  3. Take video tapes of oral histories.
  4. Transcribe and edit audio and/or video tapes.
  5. Index tapes, videos and transcriptions of these tapes or videos.
  6. Assisting with annual community events.
  7. Calendar design and layout.
  8. Annual Fund Raising Projects.
  9. Identifying sources of grants.
  10. Grant preparation and writing.
  11. Cash gift.
  12. Non-cash gift.

Please call, write, or email us with your ideas for participation.
