Rev. Dr. Rudy Carnell Brooks
​February 27, 1931 - August 11, 2019

Reverend Dr. Rudy Carnel Brooks has been a resident of Valley Lee, St. Mary's County, Maryland since 1966. In this interview he discusses: rationing and food stamps, home remedies, hospitals, senior citizen care, entertainment and games, chores, Tennille High School in Georgia, how Saturdays were when African Americans were allowed in town, marriage, religion, community activities, the advisory board at the Health Department, social services, the difference between life-long county residents and those that move here, and the naval base at Patuxent River.

Rev. Brooks was interviewed January 7, 1997 at the St. Mark Union American Methodist Episcopal Church rectory bu Brenda Coates for the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions Oral History Documentation Project. A log and a transcript are available.
